Why We Need SKE?
Why We Need SKE?
Alternative Route to Increase Connectivity Between KL and Klang
• THE Federal Highway, built in 1959, is Malaysia’s first expressway. It remains one of the busiest highways in the country and a key route that connects Kuala Lumpur and Port Klang.

• Federal Highway Route 2 being the main highway that connects the city of Kuala Lumpur to Klang can no longer accommodate existing vehicles as it has reached its capacity.
• The Sungai Klang Elevated Expressway (SKE) will be an alternative highway connecting Klang (West Coast Expressway – near Bukit Badak) to Kuala Lumpur (Jalan Istana).
• SKE will enhance transport capacity and connect with other major highways, thus improving the quality of the highway network in KL and Selangor.
• SKE will provide a safer driving environment with electronic monitoring along its alignment.
• The SKE project will be implemented based on the principle of no negative impact on the function of the Klang River.
