Clarification On Statement Made By YB Izham Hashim During Press Conference On 9 November 2021

Shah Alam, 10 November 2021: Sungai Klang Expressway Sdn. Bhd. (SKESB) wishes to clarify in connection with the statement made by YB Izham Hashim, Chairman of Selangor State Infrastructure and Agriculture, during his press conference on 9 November 2021.


SKESB acknowledges that the proposed Sungai Klang Expressway (SKE) project has yet to receive approval from the Federal Government as well as the Selangor State Government. However, SKESB wishes to clarify that submission has been made to both of the entities mentioned above.


SKESB made submission to Kementerian Kerja Raya attention to YB Menteri Kanan Kerja Raya on 19 November 2020. In response to the submission, SKESB was invited to present to the Jawatankuasa Penswastaan Kementerian Kerja Raya (JKPKKR) on 27 May 2021. Currently, SKESB is awaiting response from KKR.


Concurrently, SKESB also made submission to Selangor State Government attention to Timbalan Setiausaha SUK (Pembangunan) Negeri Selangor cum Director of Unit Perancang Ekonomi (UPEN) Selangor on 19 November 2020. SKESB subsequently received a letter from Pejabat Timbalan SUK Negeri Selangor on 8 December 2020 informing that the proposal for the SKE project was forwarded to Kementerian Kerja Raya (KKR) and any response from KKR will be communicated to SKESB.


SKESB has always placed great emphasis on complying to the due approval processes. SKESB is committed to engage all related agencies and government bodies in a timely and orderly manner, upon receiving approval from the Government.


SKESB also wishes to add that SKESB has entered into a strategic collaboration with MTD Capital Berhad on 24 March 2021. This collaboration will bring together MTD Capital’s wealth of experience in construction and managing highway concession to the proposed SKE project.


SKESB is a Malaysian company dedicated to civil and engineering construction. SKESB aspired to play a key role in the transformation of cities and regions particularly in the Klang Valley. Currently, SKESB is concentrating in developing Sungai Klang Expressway, as it will release the heavy traffic burden for the people of Klang Valley and also contributing to Malaysia’s economy.
